State Bar to weigh in on 'Seifert' dispute over judicial code of conduct

Alex De Grand reports at WisBar on today meeting of our State Bar's Board of Governors.
the Board of Governors voted to submit an amicus brief to seek reversal of the federal district court decision in Seifert [sic] v. Alexander, 08-CV-126.

The BOG also voted to
Return for further study proposed changes to the State Bar bylaws.

Those being “the Doug Kammer, Steve Levine memorial position”, see State Bar leaders look at election changes

How about changing dates so the dues statements and election ballots are mailed together?

The bylaw addition states that an officer who takes an adverse position to that of the State Bar in a “legislative, judicial, quasi-legislative or quasi-judicial” forum can be subject to removal from office by a vote of two-thirds of the members of the Board of Governors.
